Daily Fantasy Golf Helper for the Travelers Championship

Golf can be one of the most exciting DFS sports to follow, as tournaments span four days and allow ample time to prepare each week, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the basics of building a lineup on FanDuel, the scoring setup, and advanced stats to know about the PGA.

But whether you're brand new to the PGA or daily fantasy sports in general, we have you covered.

Best of the Best

Jordan Spieth (FanDuel Price: $10,100 | bet365 Odds: 9/1) - Spieth has never played TPC River Highlands, but at 9/1 odds (per bet365), he's the odds-on favorite to win the Travelers. He rode an up-and-down performance to a T35 at the U.S. Open last week and is the fourth-best par 4 scorer on the tour. Among golfers in the field, Spieth is second in greens in regulation and birdie or better rate and first in strokes gained: approach the green.

Justin Thomas ($9,800 | 14/1) - Thomas will probably see big ownership after his run at the U.S. Open last week, but he might be the best play based on stats on the entire board. He's the top par 4 scorer and birdie-maker as well as ninth in greens in regulation and fourth in strokes gained: tee to green and strokes gained: approach. Thomas is 14/1 to win, fourth-best in the field behind Spieth (9/1), Rory McIlroy (10/1), and Jason Day (11/1). Thomas finished T3 here last year after a missed cut in 2015 and T30 in 2013.

Paul Casey ($9,400 | 22/1) - Casey is on a tear of late, having made 15 of 16 cuts on the season and 12 straight. After a blistering start last week at Erin Hills, Casey cooled off with a 75 and 74 on the weekend, resulting in a 26th-place finish. Casey was second here in 2015 and T17 last year. Casey is the sixth-best par 4 scorer on the tour and ranks fourth in the field in greens in regulation, sixth in strokes gained: tee to green, and third in strokes gained: approach the green. He makes up for a 50th-place rank in strokes gained: off the tee by ranking 10th in good drive rate.

Mid-Range Options

Tony Finau ($8,400 | 35/1) - Finau ranks 15th on the year in par 4 scoring and 5th in the field in greens in regulation, 5th in birdie or better rate, 2nd in strokes gained: off the tee, and 12th in strokes gained: approach the green. That's every stat box checked. Finau has a pair of T25s here at TPC River Highlands and has seven of eight rounds under par (the other being an even 70). He has 14 of 19 made cuts this season, 7 of which were top 25s and 4 of which were top 10s.

Brendan Steele ($8,200 | 40/1) - Steele has made 16 of 17 cuts this year, the only miss coming at the team format of the Zurich. Half of those 16 made cuts were top 25s and half of the top 25s were top 10s. Steele also has five top 25s in six tries here, with the lone missed cut coming in 2012. Steele ranks 6th on the year in par 4 scoring and 20th in the field in greens in regulation, 8th in birdie or better rate, 29th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 17th in approach.

Kyle Stanley ($7,000 | 50/1) - Stanley remains a statistical hero for pretty much any course. He's 15th in par 4 scoring on the year and 2nd in the field in good drive rate, 1st in greens in regulation, 11th in birdie or better rate, 4th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 5th in strokes gained: approach. The win odds are strong for his salary, and he's a much pricier $8,600 on DraftKings, giving us some arbitrage. Stanley has played here seven times but made just three cuts, so he does carry some risk, but he's playing his best golf right now.

Graham DeLaet ($6,700 | 50/1) - DeLaet is also 50/1 and doesn't have quite the stats that Stanley has. He is 9th in the field in strokes gained: off the tee and 15th in strokes gained: approach, as well as 10th in greens in regulation and 20th in birdie or better rate. He struggles around the green (137th in strokes gained: around the green and 106th in scrambling), but that shouldn't hurt him this week. DeLaet has played here six times and finished 4th in 2015 (his most recent event), T51 in 2014, and 3rd in 2013.

Low-Priced Picks

Lucas Glover ($6,400 | 100/1) - With a handful of expensive options this week, you might want to dig deeper into extra value options. Glover should be on your shortlist. He's 6th in par 4 scoring on the year and 6th in the field in greens in regulation, 26th in birdie or better rate, 4th in bogey avoidance, 5th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 24th in strokes gained: approach. He has gotten through 14 of his 18 cuts this year but has struggled mightily at TPC River Highlands (making just 3 of 9 cuts in his career). It's hard to argue how he's playing now though at this bargain price.

Chez Reavie ($6,400 | 90/1) - Reavie at 90/1 and $6,400 is intriguing this week. He's not long off the tee (111th in driving distance in the field) but is a better 48th in strokes gained: off the tee and 21st in strokes gained: approach the green, as well as 4th in good drive rate. He struggles most around the green (119th in strokes gained: around the green). Reavie managed to finish T16 at the U.S. Open last week and T4 at the St. Jude Classic the week prior. He has also reeled off five straight cuts at TPC River Highlands, though just two of them were top 25s.

Xander Schauffele ($6,100 | 100/1) - Schauffele overcame a 73 on Friday last week to finish T4 at the U.S. Open, but that's not the only reason to like him this week. He's 21st in par 4 scoring this year and 12th in the field in greens in regulation, 19th in birdie or better rate, 23rd in strokes gained: off the tee, and 68th in strokes gained: approach the green. Schauffele ranks 98th in scrambling and 116th in strokes gained: around the green, which historical precedent suggests downplaying this week.

Jim Herman ($5,200 | 125/1) - Herman leads the field in good drive rate and is 19th in strokes gained: off the tee and 18th in strokes gained: approach the green. He's also third in greens in regulation. He's another guy who struggles around the green a (115th in scrambling and 113th in strokes gained: around the green) and is best suited for tournaments. Herman has made 10 of 18 cuts this year with 6 top 25s. He's also just two for four here at TPC River Highlands (cut in 2011, T18 in 2013, cut in 2014, and T68 in 2015).

Robert Garrigus ($5,000 | 300/1) - Garrigus is certainly a tournament play only, but he checks some boxes if you want to load up on Spieth, McIlroy, Thomas, Casey, and the like. Garrigus is 40th on the tour in par 4 scoring and 40th in the field in good drive rate as well as 8th in greens in regulation, 25th in birdie or better rate, 25th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 46th in strokes gained: approach the green. He's also just 135th in strokes gained: putting, but that shouldn't be too big of an issue on the bentgrass greens this week. Garrigus has missed five straight cuts and is just four for eight here at TPC River Highlands, but he did put together a consistent T5 finish (67, 67, 68, 67) last year.
