3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/31/17

Eduardo Nunez put on a show for his new team on Saturday, but should be avoided in FanDuel contests tonight.

Following a week of wholesome Disney World fun -- which is actually a much more exhausting vacation than one would expect -- I'm back for our regular scheduled DFS programming! Don't everyone get up at once.

Take a peek at the implied team totals, and Luis Severino ($10,100) stands out as the top cash-game play against the Detroit Tigers (3.42 implied total). The Tigers remain dangerous due to their hard-hitting ways, but they aren't as scary as they used to be after dealing away J.D. Martinez and Alex Avila. On the year, Severino has a a fine 3.30 SIERA, 27.9% strikeout rate and 6.2% walk rate.

In tournaments, you can take a stab at Charlie Morton ($8,800), who get a dangerous Tampa Bay Rays team, but one whose active roster strikes out 23.9% of the time versus righties. In four starts since coming off the disabled list, Morton has a 3.75 SIERA, 26.7% strikeout rate, and 17.5% hard-hit rate. He racked up 58 FanDuel points against the Philadelphia Phillies his last time out, so the upside is there.

As always, it's important to narrow down your short list of players to target in DFS and avoid the suboptimal plays who are overpriced or in tough spots. Here are three such players to fade on tonight's FanDuel main slate.
