While it's difficult to give the hard pass on a cheap leadoff hitter on a five-game slate, Howie Kendrick isn't as ideal a punt option as you might think.

Jhoulys Chacin stinks against lefties, but he's actually quite the stickler against same-sided bats -- since the start of 2016, he has a 23.4% strikeout rate and 25.6% hard-hit rate against righties.

Furthermore, Kendrick has been far more dangerous against southpaws this year. Against right-handed pitching, he has just a 29.7% hard-hit rate, 64.0% ground-ball rate, and .286 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). The Washington Nationals also only have a 4.21 implied team total for this evening.

If value doesn't open up, you may still find yourself going here -- cheap leadoff hitters don't grow on trees -- but there should other ways to save cash tonight with the likes of Adam Lind and Austin Hedges.
