Rafael Devers, 3B, Boston Red Sox

Price: $2,800

Like we did with the hitters in today's look at studs to pay up for, we open our look at value plays with a familiar name from yesterday's piece.

Rafael Devers has seen his price tag drop $200 despite the fact that the Boston Red Sox exploded for 11 runs, which included two driven in and one scored by Devers himself.

Just about everything that put him in play yesterday holds true tonight -- some things even more so. Boston's 5.46-run implied total is almost three-quarters of a run higher than anyone else tonight, and on a small five-game slate, that makes them an offense you really want exposure to.

Devers also gets the platoon advantage here against Detroit Tigers righty Jordan Zimmermann. The last three years have seen Zimmermann post skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) marks of 4.81, 5.22 and 4.20, and he's opened 2019 with a similarly poor 5.01.

Devers is up to a .332 wOBA on a 34.1% hard-hit rate against righties on the year, and even on a deeper slate, he would be a solid value play. With no offenses in nearly as strong a position as the Sox, he gets a big boost as well.
