MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 6/28/17

Stephen Strasburg's recent struggles don't appear overly concerning, and his matchup is better than perception. Which other players should we target in MLB DFS?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals. We've also got our Solo Shot Podcast, which breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day. Here's today's episode.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today.

High-Priced Pitchers

Stephen Strasburg ($10,300 on FanDuel): Stephen Strasburg's past three starts have not been pretty, and before we get behind him today against the Chicago Cubs, it's necessary to take a deeper look to make sure there's nothing legitimately awry. Velocity isn't an issue with both his fastball and slider ticking up in those three worrisome starts. He's still generating whiffs with a 13.6% swinging-strike rate, up from 11.6% prior to this stretch. It's entirely possible you can just explain it all away by saying Strasburg has had some bad luck. With a 3.53 SIERA, 27.5% strikeout rate, and 6.8% walk rate, we know Strasburg can be lethal when he's on. The Cubs rank 23rd in wRC+ versus righties and have seen their strikeout rate inflate to 23.5%, the fifth-highest mark in the league. Even with his rough patch, Strasburg is still the top arm on the slate.
