4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/4/17

With Bartolo Colon facing the Texas Rangers Friday, their appeal in MLB DFS should be obvious. Which other offenses should we target?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, today's game at Coors Field will not be included in these recommendations. Coors is a hitter's haven, but you likely already knew that and don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Texas Rangers

It's a Bartolo Colon slate. Need we say more?

Because you took the time to click, we probably should. Colon's transition to the American League -- shockingly! -- hasn't gone so hot. His SIERA for the season is now up to 5.10 with a 13.0% strikeout rate, and his strikeout total has declined in each start with the Minnesota Twins. His single-game hard-hit rates have been above 35.0% in every game, raising his mark there to 34.2%. In cash games, you're going to want gobs of Texas Rangers, but know that they will come with hefty ownership in tournaments.

If you want to lower the ownership on the players you use, it's fun to target guys batting a bit lower in the order, potentially ones who also lack the platoon advantage. Hello to you, Mike Napoli.

Napoli's generally a guy we target only against lefties, and exposure to his strikeout rate will make you bleed from your eye sockets. But Colon's not a high-strikeout guy, meaning we can indulge and look at Napoli's 37.8% hard-hit rate and 50.6% fly-ball rate against righties. Napoli's ownership should be lower than the lefties hitting higher in the order, and he seems like he should be a focal point in any tournament Rangers stacks.
