MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 8/28/17

After dealing with a nagging neck injury, Max Scherzer is back on the mound against the Miami Marlins. Should you trust him in DFS tonight?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals. We've also got our Solo Shot Podcast, which breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day. Here's today's episode.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today.

Max Scherzer ($11,500 on FanDuel): We have two of this season's biggest heavyweights on the mound tonight, and it's going to be awfully hard to choose between them. Following a stint on the disabled list, Max Scherzer is looking to move past a nagging neck issue that resulted in an abbreviated start and late scratch earlier this month. If you used Scherzer on those fateful days, the thought of using him in cash games might make you a little squeamish, but he threw a successful bullpen session over the weekend and should be all systems go. Of course, the season numbers are phenomenal -- including a 2.75 SIERA, 35.7% strikeout rate, and 6.3% walk rate -- and he's a huge home favorite against the Miami Marlins (3.08 implied team total). The one-man wrecking crew of Giancarlo Stanton is a little scary, but overall, Mad Max's matchup is more favorable than our next guy's spot.
