FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Tuesday 4/24/18

Sometimes the chalk doesn't come through for us in this funny game of baseball. Monday wasn't one of those nights, however, with both the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies doing what was expected of them as they tallied a combined 18 runs, 25 hits, 4 dingers, and 4 stolen bases. Outside of a surprise no-show by Charlie Blackmon, if you loaded up on the popular plays from both teams, you were sitting pretty by the end of the night.

With young lefties Eric Lauer and Kyle Freeland on the mound in Coors Field, the Padres and Rockies will be enticing once again on Tuesday. However, FanDuel has upped the pricing on the Padres, so jamming everyone in won't be as plausible. Despite some cooler temperatures (in the 40s), it's still a great spot, though we may not necessarily need to go all-in like yesterday. And speaking of weather, we're also seeing the return of this tiresome April rain with potential trouble spots in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. So, if you're planning to use anyone from those games, be sure to keep tabs on the forecast closer to lock.

High-Priced Pitchers

Charlie Morton ($9,900 on FanDuel): Charlie Morton has been absolutely marvelous to start the year, checking in with a 2.37 SIERA, 33.3% strikeout rate, and 6.1% walk rate through four starts. Better yet, he's still showing the stellar batted-ball numbers we're used to seeing with a 60.3% ground-ball rate and 25.9% hard-hit rate allowed. It's remarkable Morton has managed to become a strikeout pitcher in his 30s, but considering his 27.3% strikeout rate dating back to his injury-shortened 2016 campaign, we know it's no fluke. The matchup against a tough Los Angeles Angels lineup might normally push us away from Morton, but given the lack of slam dunk options on the slate, siding with the top-notch skills could be the way to go. However, should the opponent worry you, there's always our next hurler.
