FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Friday 5/18/18

Joey Gallo and the Rangers disappointed last night, but going back to the well could prove profitable Friday against Carson Fulmer. Who else should we roster on FanDuel's main slate?

Last night, this foul rain we've endured all week found a victim in the Cubs-Braves game, a surprise downer after it looked fairly safe for most of the day. Hopefully, you didn't take a chance on that one and were instead on the Athletics and Red Sox, who passed their stacking tests with flying colors.

Well, with all 30 teams in action on Friday, we should have plenty of offense again, with many implied team totals looking enticing for this evening's matchups. As they've been all week, the Red Sox are near the top of the charts, along with the Braves, Cubs, and Yankees. And, as we'll get into later, there's a lot of value on the A's and Rangers.

On the other hand, pitching is a bit more concentrated, with a handful of aces leading the way, as well as some cheaper options for those who want to pay down in tournaments. Unfortunately, the weather remains a factor, so we'll once again need to be careful in a few spots.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Max Scherzer ($11,600 on FanDuel): Because the rain always has to affect the games we really want to play, it's just our luck that Washington is one of the more troublesome spots tonight. But if things look safe as we get closer to game time, it will be hard to resist rolling with Max Scherzer. He's playing the game on easy mode these days, posting a ridiculous 2.11 SIERA, 40.4% strikeout rate, and 5.8% walk rate. He is averaging 54.4 FanDuel points per game, and three of his starts have exceeded 60. He's arguably the top pitcher in the game right now, and is turning into a must-start in cash games on days he pitches, regardless of opponent. To make matters better for Mad Max, the Los Angeles Dodgers have a slate-low 2.93 implied team total, so the weather might be the only thing to contain him tonight.
