FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Monday 5/21/18

Walker Buehler may be short on experience, but he offers plenty of upside in a great spot at home against the Rockies. Who else should you check out on Monday's slate?

It may feel odd to see 23-year-old phenom Walker Buehler topping the pitching salaries tonight, but a quick look at his numbers affirms that it's well-deserved. And while we may not have a plethora of aces taking the hill, we still have a healthy selection of value options to mix things up in tournaments.

As for the bats, the Yankees lead the pack by a fairly wide margin, outpacing the rest of the field with a robust 5.51 implied team total. The Cardinals, Twins, Orioles, and White Sox round out the other top spots. And wouldn't you know it, we may actually have some good weather in the forecast tonight. Rejoice!

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Walker Buehler ($9,500 on FanDuel): Walker Buehler has all of five MLB starts to his name, and yet here he is as the most expensive pitcher on the board. But a 3.02 SIERA, 30.4% strikeout rate, and 53.7% ground-ball rate have a way of doing that, and he's arguably tonight's top arm against the road-tripping Colorado Rockies. The Rockies may be fun to use at Coors Field, but it's an entirely different story away from the thin air of Denver. Against right-handers, they've produced just a league-low 65 wRC+ and 24.2% strikeout rate this season, and that's reflected in their ho-hum 3.03 implied team total. Buehler's profile isn't perfect -- he's allowed a 39.7% hard-hit rate and could improve upon his 8.0% walk rate -- but that's nitpicking an otherwise compelling package in a great spot.
