FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 5/23/18

Manny Machado and the Orioles get one of the top matchups on the board against Dylan Covey tonight. Who else should we give a look to on Wednesday's main slate?

Sometimes, choosing your FanDuel pitcher can be a difficult task, digging deep into the the stats, weighing matchups, checking Vegas lines, and comparing salaries to dissect who is truly the night's top arm.

Well, tonight is not one of those nights, and your pitching strategy couldn't be simpler: start Jacob deGrom. Of course, there are always contrarian moves you can make in tournaments, but there's no doubt deGrom is Wednesday's best in a great matchup against the lowly Miami Marlins.

That means we'll have plenty of time to concentrate on our bats, where once again the New York Yankees stand out in the Texas heat. Other intriguing offenses include the Orioles, Pirates, Cubs, Reds, and Angels.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitcher

Jacob deGrom ($10,400 on FanDuel): Jacob deGrom is priced $1,300 above the next-highest pitcher, but he's well worth it in a tier of his own tonight. He owns the fourth-best SIERA (2.64) and strikeout rate (34.3%) among qualified starters, while also allowing the least amount of hard contact (23.9%). The matchup doesn't get much better than the lowly Marlins, who are only getting a 2.88 implied team total, and hold a 76 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Ownership can be tricky to predict sometimes, but expect deGrom to be universally owned in cash games, while also appearing in a large chunk of tournaments lineups.
