4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/14/18

Five years ago, Felix Hernandez wasn't a pitcher to target. But it's 2018, and the Boston Red Sox boast the best offense in baseball against right-handed pitching. Which other offenses should you be stacking tonight?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Boston Red Sox

"King" Felix Hernandez appears to have been dethroned. While he has enjoyed a stellar career, Hernandez has generated whiffs on just 7.7% of his pitches this season, and he has been rocketed for a 38.9% hard-hit rate. That's a very clear candidate to stack against.

It also doesn't hurt that the Boston Red Sox still lead all of baseball in wRC+ (119) and wOBA (.349) against right-handed pitching.

To no one's surprise, the three most expensive hitters on the slate are all members of the Red Sox. Mookie Betts ($5,200) leads baseball in wRC+, and Mike Trout is the only reason his teammate J.D. Martinez ($4,900) doesn't rank second. My favorite Betts/Martinez stat is that they continue to lead baseball in barrels per plate appearance, and by a fairly wide margin to boot.

Meanwhile, Andrew Benintendi ($4,900) has been on an absolute tear of late.

Xander Bogaerts ($4,300) appears to have grown into his power in his age-25 season, as he has a 37.3% fly-ball rate and 37.1% hard-hit rate in 2018. Mitch Moreland ($3,900) has been the unsung hero of the Boston lineup, though. He and his 37.5% fly-ball rate and 39.8% hard-hit rate allowed Boston to send Hanley Ramirez straight out of town. And Rafael Devers ($3,500) -- with a 40.6% fly-ball rate and 36.9% hard-hit rate -- homered in yesterday's game and is one of the cheaper guys to fit in here.
