3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/9/18

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Tyler Anderson certainly isn't a bad pitcher, but a 39.4% fly-ball rate doesn't inspire much confidence in Coors Field, the best park for offense in baseball. It doesn't hurt either that the Los Angeles Dodgers have the second-best walk-to-strikeout ratio (0.47) and sixth-best hard-hit rate (37.9%) against southpaws. They also recently acquired two key right-handed bats, both of whom we will go over here.

We all know what Manny Machado ($4,800) is capable of with the bat. Just for fun, though, here are his 2018 stats against southpaws: a 12.7% walk rate, 7.5% strikeout rate, 43.9% fly-ball rate, and 37.4% hard-hit rate. Fellow trade acquisition Brian Dozier ($4,100) owns a respectable 44.7% fly-ball rate and 35.8% hard-hit rate that should also play well in Coors.

Justin Turner ($3,900) has a matching 11.5% walk rate and strikeout rate, 46.8% fly-ball rate, and 40.4% hard-hit rate. Matt Kemp ($3,700) and Chris Taylor ($3,600) both own strong marks when they have the platoon advantage. Against southpaws, Kemp is showing a 147 wRC+, including a bonkers 57.1% fly-ball rate and 53.1% hard-hit rate. Taylor has a 19.9% strikeout rate, 42.9% fly-ball rate, and 39.4% hard-hit rate versus lefties.

If he cracks the lineup, Yasmani Grandal ($3,700) has a 42.1% fly-ball rate and 41.7% hard-hit rate this season. Yasiel Puig ($3,500) looks like he may never match his insane rookie season, but he still has a 19.8% strikeout rate and 38.5% hard-hit rate.

You don't need to necessarily ignore the left side of the plate as well. Although he's mired in a terrible slump, Max Muncy ($3,800) carries an ideal batted-ball profile for power with his 45.0% fly-ball rate and 46.4% hard-hit rate. Cody Bellinger ($3,600) has a 48.9% fly-ball rate and 40.9% hard-hit rate against left-handed pitching this season.
