FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 5/15/19

Wednesday's eight-game main slate will have a tough time matching last night's affair, as the Cardinals, Astros, and Royals all racked up double-digit runs, while Chris Sale posted a ridiculous 17 strikeouts on his way to 70 FanDuel points (and yet the Red Sox still managed to lose in extras). Houston once again lines up as one of the top stacks of the night, with an enormous 6.35 implied total against an inexperienced pitcher.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Justin Verlander ($12,000 on FanDuel): As you might expect from that massive price tag, Justin Verlander is far and away the highest-priced hurler on the board, but it's even more the case tonight, where no other pitcher reaches even the $10k mark. Considering that's a discount of over $2,000 -- or more than the salary of a minimum-priced hitter -- the choice to simply pay up for the top arm on the board won't be as easy as most other slates. Still, when excluding price, there's no denying Verlander is a great play from a raw points perspective, bringing a fantastic 3.28 SIERA, 30.6% strikeout rate, and 6.3% walk rate along for a date with his old team, the Tigers. When sorted by active rosters, Detroit is tied for the highest strikeout rate against righties (25.9%) while owning a bottom-five wRC+ (81). With Verlander having notched a quality start in seven of nine outings, and the Astros expected to give plenty of run support against Gregory Soto, everything points to another strong performance for the veteran right-hander.
