FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Monday 7/1/19

We shouldn't hesitate to roster Joey Gallo even though he's got a lefty-lefty matchup. Who else should you plug in on Monday's five-game main slate?

For a five-game main slate, this one packs a surprising amount of punch for our bats, with warm evenings expected in hitter-friendly venues like Globe Life Park and Great American Ball Park, along with the Tampa Bay Rays drawing a weak Baltimore Orioles pitching staff. Overall, seven teams have implied totals of 4.90 or higher. Of course, as you might imagine, that also means that pitching is sorely lacking on such a short slate, and you won't associate any of these guys with the word "ace."

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitcher

Logan Allen ($9,300 on FanDuel): Mike Minor ($10,800) is the most-expensive hurler on the board, and while he's actually performed fairly well in 2019, a matchup in Arlington against an Angels active roster that owns a league-low 15.8% strikeout rate against southpaws squashes his appeal. But after him, the only other guy priced above $9,000 is Logan Allen, and he faces a far more desirable foe in the Giants. San Francisco's active roster owns a pitiful 76 wRC+ versus left-handers -- the second-worst in the league -- to go with a neutral 22.8% strikeout rate. Meanwhile, Allen has performed well over his first two big league starts, though outside of an encouraging 55.9% ground-ball rate, his peripherals have been pretty average so far with a 4.26 SIERA, 20.0% strikeout rate, and 8.0% walk rate. His 24.5% strikeout rate in 13 Triple-A starts before his call-up doesn't really scream upside, either, and he only managed a 4.70 xFIP and 46.3% ground-ball rate over that span. Still, the opponent and venue (Petco Park) make for arguably the best combination on the slate, leaving the Giants with a slate-low 3.58 implied total.
