4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 7/16/19

Coors Field turned out to be a big fail on Monday's night cap, a reminder that even those hard to fade "can't-miss" spots can fail. But the Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants once again have all sorts of potential in their respective matchups against Drew Pomeranz and Peter Lambert, and between last night's disappointment and all 30 teams being in action, ownership should be more spread out tonight. But that being said, like yesterday, there are all sorts of other great matchups to exploit on a packed offensive slate.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Boston Red Sox

Outside of Coors Field, we have three different teams exceeding 6.00 implied runs, one of which being the Boston Red Sox against Jacob Waguespack. We saw the Red Sox beat up on Trent Thornton and the Blue Jays last night, and Waguespack could suffer a similar fate as a hurler lacking in both experience and results.

The right-hander has all of two big league appearances (one of which came against the Sox earlier this month), and he hasn't posted a Triple-A ERA below 5.00 either this season or in 2018. Over his 52.2 Triple-A innings in 2019, that shoddy ERA has come with a 4.96 xFIP, 22.0% strikeout rate, and 10.6% walk rate -- not exactly encouraging numbers for the next level. Most public season-long projections on FanGraphs peg Waguespack for an ERA close to 5.00 in the Majors.

Nowadays, Boston essentially has a big four of Mookie Betts ($4,400), Rafael Devers ($4,200), Xander Bogaerts ($4,600), and J.D. Martinez ($4,100), but like always, just about all their regulars are capable of a big night.

Andrew Benintendi ($3,400), Jackie Bradley ($2,800), and Brock Holt ($2,500) will enjoy the platoon advantage at cheaper price tags, while Michael Chavis ($3,300) and Christian Vazquez ($3,000) have shown nice pop in 2019. Vazquez is arguably the team's biggest surprise, as his .226 ISO is a huge leap above his career average (.120 ISO). Obviously, it's easy to be skeptical, but his rise in power is supported by improvement in his Statcast marks virtually across the board, including a sizable increase in average exit velocity.
