FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 8/14/19

After a night that was loaded with pitching, Wednesday's six-game main slate leaves the cupboard pretty bare on that front. That naturally means bats will be more plentiful, and while we don't quite see the gaudy implied totals of the past couple nights, seven teams exceed 4.80 runs, including four surpassing 5.00 runs.

High-Priced Pitchers

Clayton Kershaw ($12,000 on FanDuel): At his exorbitant price tag, Clayton Kershaw was much easier to fade when he was originally slated to pitch on Tuesday, but with far more limited options tonight, he's one of the lone gems on an otherwise barren pitching slate. The days of blindly starting peak Kershaw every start may be long gone, but he's still put together a solid 2019 campaign, posting a 3.83 SIERA, 25.4% strikeout rate, and 5.4% walk rate. And while he doesn't have that elite upside of years past, Kershaw rarely tosses a real clunker, and he draws an opponent we've attacked all season in the Marlins. Against southpaws, Miami isn't quite as much of a punching bag, with an active roster owning a 95 wRC+ and 22.2% strikeout rate, but at pitcher-friendly Marlins Park, they come in with far and away, the lowest implied total of the slate (3.11). No other team has a total even below 4.00 runs, and Kershaw is easily the night's safest pitching play -- though the high salary does limit your hitting options in tournaments.
