Edwin Encarnacion traded to Mariners
The Cleveland Indians have traded first baseman Edwin Encarnacion to the Seattle Mariners.
Encarnacion will be joining a Mariners team that just missed out on the playoffs in 2018 and will presumably slide in at first base or designated hitter. Carlos Santana is heading to Cleveland in the three-team deal, and so will Jake Bauers. Yandy Diaz and minor-league pitcher Cole Susler will be heading to the Tampa Bay Rays.
In 137 games last season, Encarnacion hit for a .246 batting average with 32 home runs, 107 RBI and a .810 OPS.
