Braves may share ninth-inning duties to start year

Atlanta Braves relievers Arodys Vizcaino and A.J. Minter may share closing duties to start the season, said manager Brian Snitker.

What It Means:

Snitker said it may be "a matchup-type thing" in the eighth and ninth innings. That would likely mean most of the save chances go to right-hander Vizcaino, while southpaw Minter would get the nod when facing multiple left-handed hitters in the ninth. Vizcaino picked up 16 saves with a 2.11 ERA in 39 appearances last season. He missed time with a should injury, which allowed Minter to pick up 15 saves, with a 3.23 ERA, in 65 games.

numberFire's models expect Vizcaino to convert 28 saves with a 3.27 ERA in 2019. Minter is pegged for a 3.32 ERA and 4 saves.
