Ichiro finishes out career with Mariners in Japan
Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Oakland Athletics in his final major league game.
Suzuki left the Mariners as a player in May of 2018 but stuck around with the organization for these two games in Japan. Amongst a soldout crowd of 45,000, the 45-year-old legend drew a raucous ovation when he checked out in the ninth inning to put a cap on his spectacular career. Suzuki will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2025.
Ichiro holds the all-time record for most hits in a season with 262 in 2004. He racked up 3,089 hits over 18-plus years in the majors.
