Yankees' Greg Bird seeking X-rays for right elbow
New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird has been sent for X-rays on his right elbow.
Bird woke up with swelling and tightness in his elbow after being hit on the elbow by a pitch Wednesday. Yankees executive Brian Cashman called the X-rays "routine" and downplayed the injury as a day-to-day thing, so Bird may still be available for Opening Day. The 26-year-old has been competing with Luke Voit for the starting job at first base.
Assuming Bird is healthy, numberFire's models expect him to hit .232 with 10 home runs, 29 RBI, and 23 runs scored in 223 plate appearances this season.
