Athletics' Jesus Luzardo out 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo is being shut down for 4-6 weeks due to a muscle strain in his left shoulder.
Luzardo was considered a candidate to be in the Athletics' Opening Day rotation, but now he will not be able to make his big league debut until at least late April. The 21-year-old left-hander is considered a top-tier pitching prospect.
Luzardo recorded a 2.88 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 129 strikeouts and 30 walks across 109 1/3 innings last season while going 10-5 in 23 starts.
