Mets' Pete Alonso to make Opening Day roster

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso will make the Opening Day roster, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

What It Means:

The Mets were expected to hold Alonso in the minors a few weeks to delay his free agency by a year, but he's made that difficult this spring by slashing .352/.386/.648 with 4 home runs across 57 plate appearances. He may start the season in a utility role.

numberFire's models expect Alonso to hit .241 across 460 plate appearances with 22 taters, 64 RBI, 55 runs scored, and 2 steals this season.
