Indians' Oscar Mercado out of Thursday's lineup
Cleveland Indians outfielder Oscar Mercado is not starting in Thursday's series opener versus right-hander Dan Straily and the Baltimore Orioles.
Mercado is being replaced in left field by Jake Bauers. He struck out in his first 3 at-bats in his MLB debut on Tuesday before getting hit by a pitch in the top of the eighth inning and scoring from second base on a Roberto Perez single to right field.
Mercado was slashing .294/.396/.496 with 4 homers, 15 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 14 steals for Triple-A Columbus this season.
