Carlos Carrasco placed on Indians' injured list due to blood condition
The Cleveland Indians placed starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco on the 10-day injured list with a non-baseball medical condition.
Carrasco "was recently diagnosed with a blood condition after several weeks of feeling lethargic" and "will step away from baseball activities to explore the optimal treatment and recovery options," per an official statement from the Indians. The 32-year-old right-hander had been scheduled to toe the rubber against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, but now Tyler Clippard will serve as the Indians' opener in a bullpen game.
Carrasco is 4-6 in 12 starts this season. He owns a 4.98 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 79 strikeouts and 11 walks across 65 innings.
