Adalberto Mondesi (groin) absent from Royals' lineup Wednesday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (groin) is not starting in Wednesday's series finale versus left-hander Marco Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners.
Mondesi made an early exit from Tuesday's shutout victory over the Mariners with right groin tightness. He's considered day-to-day. Nicky Lopez is covering shortstop Wednesday for Kansas City. Whit Merrifield is on second base while Lucas Duda is on first.
Mondesi is slashing .269/.302/.441 with 6 home runs, 16 doubles, 8 triples, 44 RBI, 40 runs scored, and 27 steals in 71 games this season.
