Kyle Kendrick

Braves ink Kyle Kendrick to minors deal

The Atlanta Braves signed pitcher Kyle Kendrick to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

What It Means:

Kendrick serves as yet another non-roster invitee to spring training for the Braves. Atlanta is in rebuilding mode and can use as many arms as they can get for the 2016 season, meaning Kendrick should be a serious contender to make their rotation.

Kendrick had a disastrous season for the Colorado Rockies, posting a 5.09 xFIP -- the 3rd worst in baseball among pitchers with at least 140 innings pitched -- over 27 starts. His 2.09 home runs allowed per nine innings was the worst in baseball and his 12.7 strikeout percentage was well below the league average of 20.4 percent. Unfortunately for the Braves, Kendrick pitching at Coors Field wasn't the only problem, as his xFIP on the road was 4.71.
