Cardinals' Adam Wainwright (back) scratched from Friday start, Daniel Ponce de Leon taking the bump
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright has been scratched from his start on Friday in the team's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Wainwright is reportedly dealing with back spasms, and he'll miss this start at the very least. It's currently unknown whether he'll land on the injured list. In the meantime, Daniel Ponce de Leon will get the nod against the Diamondbacks.
In 87.7 innings pitched this season, Wainwright has a 5-7 record with a 4.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 82 strikeouts and 36 walks.
