Nationals' Max Scherzer (back) won't start Sunday versus Phils
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer will not make his scheduled start Sunday versus the Philadelphia Phillies due to a mid-back injury.
Scherzer underwent an MRI that came back negative but the Nats will be extra cautious with the ace. Anibal Sanchez will start Sunday instead. Scherzer is expected to be ready to go for his next turn in the rotation late next week.
Scherzer has posted a 2.30 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 35.1% strikeout percentage in 129 1/3 innings pitched this season.
