Mets trade Jason Vargas to Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher Jason Vargas and cash from the New York Mets for catching prospect Austin Bossart.
What It Means:
Vargas has been productive over his last 12 starts, posting a 3.34 ERA. The veteran left-hander will immediately step into the Phillies rotation with Zach Eflin the likely candidate to get bumped.
Vargas owns a 4.01 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 81 strikeouts and 39 walks in 94 1/3 innings pitched this season.
