Michael Lorenzen not in Reds' Friday lineup

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen is sitting on Friday in the team's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What It Means:

Lorenzen made his first MLB start in the field on Thursday, getting the nod in center field. He also came into pitch, becoming the first player since Babe Ruth to start in center field, register a win on the mound and also hit a home run. It's not clear if the Reds will continue to use him in this manner going forward, but if one thing is certain, it was one heck of a night for the 27-year-old. On Friday, he'll be replaced in center field by Phillip Ervin against Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray.

In 74 innings pitched this season, Lorenzen has a 1-4 record with a 3.04 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, 75 strikeouts and 27 walks. And in 23 plate appearances this season, he has a .300 batting average and an .891 OPS.
