Jeanmar Gomez next in line for Phillies save - Jeanmar Gomez | PHI
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jeanmar Gomez is next in line for a save opportunity, manager Pete Mackanin said Thursday.
Mackanin wanted to use Gomez on Thursday afternoon in Cincinnati against the Reds, but the Phillies wound up losing 10-6. David Hernandez got lit up for three earned runs without recording an out on Opening Day and Dalier Hinojosa blew a save in brutal fashion Wednesday. Philadelphia's ninth-inning role is likely to be a carousel all season.
Gomez went three up, three down with a strikeout in his one inning of action so far this season.
