J.J. Hoover unavailable for Reds on Wednesday
Cincinnati Reds pitcher J.J. Hoover is unavailable on Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies, Reds' skipper Bryan Price said.
Price also said he's still deciding whether to remove Hoover from the club's ninth-inning role. Hoover let up two runs in 2/3 of an inning on Tuesday night, and he's sporting a brutal 15.19 ERA in 5 1/3 innings to open the 2016 season. Tony Cingrani or Caleb Cotham could be next in line for save opportunities in Cincinnati. In fantasy leagues with deep rosters, they're probably both worth a stash.
The 28-year-old Hoover registered a cool 2.94 ERA (4.62 xFIP), 1.17 WHIP, 7.27 strikeouts-per-nine rate and 4.34 walks-per-nine clip in 64 1/3 innings last season for Cincinnati. He currently owns a 14.29 strikeout percentage for this season.
