A.J. Ramos (finger fracture) placed on disabled list for Marlins

The Miami Marlins placed closer A.J. Ramos on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 6, with a fractured right middle finger.

What It Means:

We reported earlier today that Ramos has been dealing with a jammed finger, but we now know the injury is actually a fracture. It's not yet known how long he'll be out, and Fernando Rodney -- with his 2.35 ERA this season -- will likely serve as the Marlins closer during Ramos' absence.

Ramos owns a 3.05 ERA, 4.09 xFIP and 29.02 strikeout percentage across 44 1/3 innings of work this season. Through 46 frames in 2016, Rodney has twirled a 3.55 xFIP and 27.13 percent punchout rate for both the Marlins and San Diego Padres.
