David Hernandez

Angels add bullpen depth by trading for Braves' David Hernandez

The Los Angeles Angels acquired reliever David Hernandez from the Atlanta Braves for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What It Means:

Hernandez will provide some experience and depth for a Phillies' bullpen that is currently missing Cam Bedrosian (groin), Huston Street (lat), Andrew Bailey (shoulder) and Mike Morin (neck). The 31-year-old right-hander has yet to throw a pitch in the majors this season.

Hernandez recorded a 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 31.0 strikeout percentage across 8 innings (seven appearances) for Triple-A Gwinnett this season while successfully converting on 4-of-5 save opportunities.
