Jeurys Familia (shoulder) placed on Mets' disabled list
New York Mets reliever Jeurys Familia was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 11, with an arterial blood clot in his right shoulder.
It remains to be seen whether or not Familia will require surgery or how long he could be out for. Addison Reed will handle closing duties for the Mets until more is known.
Familia has posted a shaky 4.93 SIERA with a 23.3 percent strikeout rate and 1.61 WHIP through 11 games (9 1/3 innings pitched) this season. He has one hold with three saves and one blown opportunity.
