Zack Greinke strikes out 12 in Diamondbacks' victory, almost goes distance

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke held the Chicago White Sox to one run over 8 2/3 innings in a 5-1 victory on Monday.

What It Means:

Diamondbacks manager Torrey Lovullo pulled Greinke with two outs in the top of the ninth after Jose Abreu reached on a double. The 33-year-old right-hander gave up just four hits while walking one against the 12 strikeouts. His next start will be a road date with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Greinke is now 6-2 on the year and leads all National League pitchers with 78 strikeouts. He owns a 2.82 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 29.9 strikeout percentage in 67 innings this season.
