Clayton Richard

Clayton Richard just misses throwing a complete game Tuesday in San Diego

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Clayton Richard allowed two earned runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 8 2/3 innings in a win Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds.

What It Means:

Richard ran out of gas in the top of the ninth inning allowing two singles before collecting two more outs and then allowing an RBI double to Tucker Barnhart before getting pulled. Still, the veteran pitched outstanding and he has now logged five quality starts over his last seven outings.

Richard's ERA now sits at 4.30 with a 1.42 WHIP over 88.0 innings pitched this season. Our models expect him to post a 4.63 ERA with 58 strikeouts over 95.2 innings remaining this season.
