Adeiny Hechavarria

Rays trade for Adeiny Hechavarria from Marlins

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria from the Miami Marlins in exchange for pitcher Ethan Clark and outfielder Braxton Lee.

What It Means:

Hechavarria has been sidelined with an oblique injury, allowing J.T. Riddle to take control of the starting shortstop job in Miami. With Hechavarria expendable, the Rays acquire the services of the light-hitting, defensive-minded shortstop. He will remain on the DL for now but could find his way into the starting job with Tampa later this season.

Our models project Hechavarria for a .255 batting average and 13 runs scored in 147 plate appearances the rest of the season.
