Cardinals send Aledmys Diaz down to Triple-A Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals optioned shortstop Aledmys Diaz to Triple-A Memphis.

What It Means:

Diaz has gone just 6-for-28 (.214) with a 20.0 strikeout percentage over the last 10 games. Paul DeJong and Alex Mejia project to see the bulk of the time at shortstop while Diaz works on some things in Triple-A. DeJong is starting on Wednesday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks while Mejia was just called up.

Diaz hasn't been terrible this season, producing a .260/.293/.396 slash with 7 taters, 20 RBI and 30 runs scored in 288 plate appearances (71 games).
