Astros' Carlos Correa (thumb) hits off a tee Monday
Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa (thumb) took 20-25 swings off a tee and fielded about 60 grounders Monday.
This is the most notable step Correa has taken so far in his recovery from a torn thumb ligament. The young shortstop says he feels good and he thinks he's ahead of schedule, but that doesn't mean the team will risk the longterm health of one of their franchise players. Expect Correa back in mid-September in order to give him some at bats before the start of the AL divisional series.
Our models expect Correa to post a .300 batting average, with 2 home runs, 7 RBI, and 7 runs scored over 47 plate appearances remaining this season.
