Giants' Matt Cain plans to retire after 2017 season
San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain announced that he will retire after the season, reports the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman.
Cain will make one final start on Saturday, marking the end of a 13-year career with the Giants. At 32 years old, he's a three-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion.
Cain went 3-11 with a 5.18 FIP in 22 starts this season. He's tallied 104 wins with 15 complete games, 6 shutouts and 1,690 strikeouts over 2,080 2/3 innings for his career.
