Twins' Ervin Santana to start Tuesday's AL Wild Card Game
Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana will start Tuesday's Wild Card Game, according to the Associated Press' Tom Withers.
The Twins are set to play either the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox in a road matchup to advance to the next round. No matter the opponent, it will be the 34-year-old Santana getting the start as the obvious choice.
In 32 starts, Santana has gone 16-8 with a 4.50 FIP over 206 1/3 innings. He's fanned 7.24 batters per 9 while allowing 1.35 homers to opposing hitters. On the road, he holds a .212 opponent average with a 4.20 FIP and just 1.20 homers allowed per 9 this season.
