Pirates' Jordy Mercer (knee) unlikely to play again this season
Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer is unlikely to play again this season, per Trib Live's Rob Biertempfel.
Mercer hasn't played in six days due to tendinitis in his left knee. With the Pirates' season drawing to an end, with just two games after tonight, the Pirates will probably just hold him out as a precaution. Sean Rodriguez is at shortstop for tonight's game and might get the remaining two starts there for the Pirates.
Over 145 games, Mercer went for 14 home runs, 58 RBI and a .255 average this season. His -0.75 nERD is just marginally better than his -0.74 nERD he posted a year ago.
