Jake Arrieta

Cubs' Jake Arrieta (hamstring) won't start until Game 4 of NLDS

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta is in line to start Game 4 against the Washington Nationals, according to The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma.

What It Means:

It was originally believed that Arrieta would return to start Game 3 after battling discomfort in his right hamstring. But it appears that the Cubs are being even more cautious with the right-handed hurler. As Kyle Hendricks pitches Game 1, southpaws Jon Lester and Jose Quintana are to follow in the next two contests. If the series reaches a fourth game, Arrieta will pitch next Tuesday in Chicago.

Within the confines of Wrigley Field, Arrieta has managed a 5-2 record with a 2.90 ERA and 3.41 FIP across 10 starts this season. His 2.51 nERD ranks 3rd in the Cubs' rotation, ahead of Hendricks' 2.03 mark.
