Red Sox' Dustin Pedroia underwent knee surgery on Wednesday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia underwent surgery on his left knee Wednesday, according to The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham.
The surgery, which took place in New York, served the purpose of correcting a knee issue that plagued Pedroia through the stretch run this season. At 34 years old, the veteran admitted that recovery could take "a long time", which means that Pedroia's start to the 2018 season could be delayed. The details on the procedure and his rehab have yet to be released. Pedroia is owed $56 million over the next four seasons in Boston.
Pedroia's 0.19 nERD marked his worst season since his rookie year way back in 2006. He played in just 105 games while hitting .293 with 7 home runs in 2017.
