Blue Jays name J.A. Happ the Opening Day starter
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher J.A. Happ has been officially named the Opening Day starter against the New York Yankees.
Happ will be followed in the rotation by Aaron Sanchez, Marco Estrada, Marcus Stroman and Jaime Garcia. Stroman has been slow to recover from a shoulder issue during camp, so that paved the way for Happ to get his first career Opening Day start.
Our models project Happ for a 4.00 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, with 155 strikeouts over 171.0 innings pitched in 2018.
