Robinson Cano fractures hand in Mariners' loss, will visit specialist Tuesday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano suffered a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand when he was hit by a pitch during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers.
The diagnosis was revealed by X-rays taken after Cano was lifted in the third inning. He will visit a hand specialist on Tuesday but this sounds like it will send the veteran to the disabled list for an extended period of time and possibly require surgery. Dee Gordon could fill the void at second base while Gordon Beckham figures to be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to take Cano's roster spot.
Cano is averaging 10.7 FanDuel points in 39 games this season while slashing .287/.385/.441 with 4 home runs and 23 RBI across 169 plate appearances.
