Diamondbacks' A.J. Pollock (thumb) out 4-to-8 weeks

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock has been diagnosed with a left thumb fracture and will be out four-to-eight weeks.

What It Means:

Tough break for the often injured outfielder as Pollock suffered the injury diving for a fly ball on Monday night. The timetable would suggest amid-to-late June return at best but he could be out until after the All-Star break. Jarrod Dyson and Chris Owings will see extra playing time with Pollock out.

Pollock was on a tear to start the season batting .293 with 11 homers, 33 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 9 steals in 166 plate appearances the rest of the season.
