Phillies' Jerard Eickhoff (lat, fingers) suffers setback
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (lat) felt a twinge in the tips of his right middle and index fingers when throwing curveballs during his latest rehab start.
Eickhoff has been sidelined all season due to a strained lat, so this is a new injury for the 27-year-old right-hander. The Phillies are waiting to decide on treatment until after he's been re-evaluated. This should provide additional job security for Zach Eflin at the back-end of Philadelphia's rotation.
Eickhoff is coming off a disappointing 2017 in which he posted a 4.71 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 128 innings.
